New NYT Acrostics blog

Acrostic solvers may not be as numerous as crossword enthusiasts, but they tend to be more passionate. When Wordplay dropped their weekly Variety Puzzle posts, acrostic fans had nowhere to go online to share their thoughts. Were the answers exciting? Unfair? Boring? Clever? Confusing? Who could they congratulate or complain to?

The new team of Jane Stewart and David Balton now write all NYT acrostics. They missed having a home for discussion so much that they decided to start their own blog. They’ll publish a post every two weeks, one for each new puzzle.

  1. I love the acrostic by this wonderful couple. Sometimes like today I had to look up 2 answers , but sometimes not necessary. Today’s showed Jane’s musicianship and often music is included in clues. I look forward every other week to tax my brain, which is 85 years old. It really is filled with words I can drag out.
