I made a couple of changes to try to mitigate the hack attacks that were crippling XWord Info. If either of these affect you and you’re not an evil hacker, let me know, and I’ll make sure you regain access.
- At least one of the hackers was trying to retrieve every clue for every word in the dictionary. Now, you are required to log on to your XWord Info account for any view on the Finder page. Yes, you can still hit that page with a million requests, but at least I’ll know who you are, and we can have a conversation.
- I restricted access from several IP address ranges that exhibited the most egregious behavior. Some were from Russia or Europe, some were from China, some were closer to home.
sup brother, wondering if you know why maleska gave the hint c in h.c.l =courter for the puzzle on 8/8/1984. Can’t find any info on any person or entity described by those initials with courter for the C. Thanks
